Fit the new bottom to the boiler by soldering. Prior to do so, I have made a 90 degrees angle on the border of the flat copper panel by using a hammer and an old floor tile.

Soldering is a process in which two or more metal items are joined together by melting and flowing a filler metal into the joint, the filler metal having a relatively low melting point. Soft soldering is characterized by the melting point of the filler metal, which is below 400 °C (752 °F).

The filler metal used in the process is called solder. Make sure you use Lead Free solder as lead is a poisonous metal.

Step 6

As vapor needs to exit the boiler, measure the size of the column connecting ring and saw a hole in the top of the boiler.

Finding a connecting ring is usually the most complicated part. There are several solutions which I will describe seperately.

Step 7

I have just made anew opening in the top so I can connect the column to boiler.

Step 8

The connector has been soldered to the top of the boiler and I have sandpapered the copper so it looks a bit better.

Now we can move on to the construction of the column.

Obviously you can also add a drain to boiler so it will allow draining the boiler after a run more easily.
